Slieve Gullion area Sinn Féin Councillor Roisin Mulgrew has said that a recent visit to Derramore House & Woods by a group from America and Canada was a very positive and successful occasion.
The Councillor had been invited to address the visitors by the “Friends of Derramore” Group.
The local elected representative said,
“When the Friends of Derramore heard that a group of American and Canadian visitors were staying locally in Tí Chulainn Centre while they toured south Armagh and traced their ancestry, they jumped at the chance to pass on the history and further plans for Derramore”.
The Sinn Féin Councillor continued,
“Friends of Derramore have worked closely with myself, the Council and other key stakeholders to fulfil their vision for an accessible, vibrant facility here at Derramore. I spoke to the visitors about the Friends Group relationship with the council and their effort to secure funding for the estate’s development”.
Concluding the Councillor said,
“The afternoon was extremely informative and interesting for all concerned. It was a positive engagement which our visitors from America and Canada found very worthwhile. I have no doubt they will spread the word about the great welcome they received in south Armagh and will return again.
