Brady Welcomes Armagh GAA Intervention in Email Attack From McNulty Supporters

Sinn Féin’s Mickey Brady has welcomed the Armagh GAA County Board’s response to the illegal and unsolicited use of a GAA email database to explicitly call on support for SDLP candidate, Justin McNulty.

The statement makes it clear that the vicious and personalised allegations contained within the email which were leveled at Mickey Brady, have no association with the local GAA.

Brady said:

“We hope the important intervention of the Armagh County Board’s statement, which condemns the illegal use of an Armagh GAA database to promote SDLP candidate Justin McNulty, will put an end to these personal and underhanded campaigning tactics.

“As stated by the Board, this is not the first time the GAA has been exploited in this way. But it must be the last time.

“We must rise above these desperate and shady electoral tactics and afford the electoral process, and all candidates involved in it, respect and dignity.

Brady finished:

“We call again on Justin McNulty and the SDLP to join the County Board in disassociating itself from this email.

“Moreover they should call on their supporters to put an end to these tactics, in the hope that the manipulation of the local GAA in this manner never happens again.”
