Newry City Sinn Féin Councillor Valerie Harte has urged people to be vigilant after a spate of robberies and attempted break ins on vehicles.The local Councillor made her appeal after a series of incidents took place in the O Neill Avenue area.
She said,“A number of residents had their possessions stolen from their vehicles, which is completely unacceptable for a the community and for those affected.
The individuals who carried out these anti community acts have no place within our community. I would urge all residents and the wider communities to to be extra cautious and to protect their property and vehicles”.Councillor Harte continued,
“I would like to remind all residents of the importance of locking your vehicles at night, and ensuring that no valuable items are left on show or unattended.”Concluding the Sinn Féin elected representative said
“I would advise all to be alert to suspicious activity or behaviour to contact the PSNI”.
